The BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Helminths kit is a molecular diagnostic test that detects the presence of ten intestinal helminths from DNA extracted from stool samples. Helminths are parasitic worms that can cause various symptoms and health issues. The kit comes in pre-filled microplates of master mix and uses real-time PCR technology for accurate and fast results.

A second kit, BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Protozoans, is also available for the detection of ten intestinal protozoans from the same DNA extracts. Molecular detection methods offer higher sensitivity and specificity compared to conventional microscopy, making this kit a valuable tool for laboratory staff for in vitro molecular diagnostics.

Specifications of the Helminths PCR Kit

BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Helminths is an innovative in vitro molecular diagnostic kit that enables the detection of ten intestinal helminths from DNA extracted from stool samples. It comes in pre-filled microplates of master mix that are ready to use, specifically detecting Schistosoma mansoni, Strongyloides stercoralis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Diphyllobothrium latum, Taenia spp., Hymenolepis nana, Enterobius vermicularis, Ancylostoma duodenale, and Necator americanus.

A second kit, BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Protozoans (Ref. 3150067), is also available that allows the qualitative detection of ten intestinal protozoans from the same DNA extracts. Intestinal parasite infections are a major public health concern worldwide, and the BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Helminths kit provides higher sensitivity and specificity compared to conventional microscopy, multiplex detection, faster results, and reduced turnaround time.

In addition to its high sensitivity and specificity, the BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Helminths kit is designed for ease of use in laboratory settings. Components of the Helminths PCR Kit
  1. Lysis Buffer: A solution containing chaotropic salts and detergents that break down the cell walls and membranes of helminth parasites to release genomic DNA into solution.
  2. Proteinase K: An enzyme that digests proteins and enzymes, including nucleases and proteases that could degrade the extracted DNA.
  3. Beads: Silica-coated magnetic beads that capture and isolate genomic DNA from the lysed helminth samples.
  4. Wash Buffer: A solution used to wash the magnetic beads and remove any remaining contaminants.
  5. Elution Buffer: A solution used to release the captured genomic DNA from the magnetic beads.
  6. DNase/RNase-free Water: Water that has been treated to remove contaminating DNases and RNases, which can degrade the extracted DNA.

 

The kit also includes instructions for use, as well as a protocol for the extraction of genomic DNA from helminth parasites using a magnetic bead-based method.
