Specifications of the iCassette – Carbapenem Resistance

The rise of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) presents a significant global health challenge, as these bacteria exhibit resistance to one of the last-resort classes of antibiotics. Rapid and accurate detection of carbapenem resistance genes is critical for effective treatment and infection control in clinical settings.

The Carbapenem Resistance Diagnostic Kit is a highly advanced in vitro diagnostic tool designed to detect the five key carbapenem resistance genes: KPC, NDM, VIM, IMP, and OXA-48. These genes are responsible for the most common forms of carbapenem resistance in bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The kit uses real-time multiplex fluorescent PCR technology, providing a qualitative analysis of these genes in human sputum samples.

The iCassette uses a magnetic bead transfer structure and process technology, as well as a material distributed mixing device structure. It is compatible with the Galaxy: Nano, Lite and Pro. The test can be performed on demand with no minimum batch size requirement, which is advantageous for clinics and hospitals that require rapid results. The fully automated sample magnetic beads extraction to qPCR process provides results in one and a half hours with minimal hands-on time, increasing laboratory efficiency and reducing patient waiting times.

The iCassette Carba-R Diagnostic Kit is suitable with sputum, and rectal swab. It is stored at 2-8°C and includes internal process control to ensure the accuracy and reliability of each test performed.

With its ability to quickly identify multiple resistance genes in a single test, the iCassette Carba-R kit is an essential tool for laboratories and healthcare facilities focused on combating antibiotic resistance and safeguarding public health.
