Protozoans PCR Kit

Short description

The BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Protozoans is a molecular diagnostic kit that can detect the presence of 10 intestinal protozoans from DNA extracted from stool samples. It is easy to use, comes in pre-filled microplates of master mix, and utilizes real-time PCR technology.

The kit is specifically designed to detect Cryptosporidium spp, Dientoamoeba fragilis, Enterocytozoon bieneusi, Encephalitozoon spp, Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba dispar, Blastocystis spp, Giardia intestinalis, Cystoisospora belli, and Cyclospora cayetanensis. The kit is presented in the form of 96-well plates that can be easily divided into strips of 8 wells each for convenience.

A second kit, BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Helminths, is also available to detect 10 intestinal helminths from the same DNA extracts. This kit provides higher sensitivity and specificity than conventional microscopy, making it an essential tool for laboratory staff for in vitro molecular diagnostics.

Specifications of the Protozoans PCR Kit

Intestinal parasite infections are a serious public health issue worldwide, affecting millions of people in both developing and industrialized nations.

BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Protozoans is a game-changing molecular diagnostic kit that detects the presence of ten intestinal protozoans from DNA extracted from stool samples. The kit is easy to use, and comes in pre-filled microplates of master mix. It is specifically designed to detect Cryptosporidium spp, Dientoamoeba fragilis, Enterocytozoon bieneusi, Encephalitozoon spp, Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba dispar, Blastocystis spp, Giardia intestinalis, Cystoisospora belli, and Cyclospora cayetanensis.

The BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Protozoans kit is an in vitro diagnostic test that utilizes real-time PCR technology. This kit comes in three different versions. Each kit consists of microplates with 12 strips of 8 wells, where the first 5 wells of each strip are pre-filled with master mixes and the last 3 are empty. This allows for testing of one patient sample per strip. The master mixes are ready to use and contain dNTPs, MgCl2, fluorescent primers and probes, Taq polymerase, and reaction buffer. The test kit is presented in the form of 96-well plates that can be easily divided into strips of 8 wells each for convenience. With this kit, lab technicians can quickly and accurately detect the presence of ten intestinal protozoans from DNA extracted from stool samples.

A second kit, BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Helminths (Ref 3150066), is also available to detect ten intestinal helminths from the same DNA extracts. Protozoan infections, caused by single-celled parasites such as Entamoeba histolytica or Giardia lamblia, can produce severe symptoms and even death, particularly in immunocompromised patients. This kit provides higher sensitivity and specificity than conventional microscopy, the ability to target multiple parasites, faster results, and reduced turnaround time, making it an essential tool for laboratory staff for in vitro molecular diagnostics.

Components of the Protozoans PCR Kit
  1. Lysis Buffer: A solution containing chaotropic salts and detergents that break down the cell walls and membranes of protozoan parasites to release genomic DNA into solution.
  2. Proteinase K: An enzyme that digests proteins and enzymes, including nucleases and proteases that could degrade the extracted DNA.
  3. Beads: Silica-coated magnetic beads that capture and isolate genomic DNA from the lysed protozoan samples.
  4. Wash Buffer: A solution used to wash the magnetic beads and remove any remaining contaminants.
  5. Elution Buffer: A solution used to release the captured genomic DNA from the magnetic beads.
  6. DNase/RNase-free Water: Water that has been treated to remove contaminating DNases and RNases, which can degrade the extracted DNA.

The kit also includes instructions for use, as well as a protocol for the extraction of genomic DNA from protozoan parasites using a magnetic bead-based method.
