Ashkenazim Son cfDNA in Plasma is the wild-type counterpart to the mutation-carrying SensID reference materials: the same cfDNA background and the same matrix, without the variants.

Composition

The background is human cell-free DNA from the Ashkenazim son cell line, embedded in recreated human plasma that contains human proteins, electrolytes and EDTA at the concentrations found after a standard blood draw, with the EDTA concentration following the guidance of the International Council for Standardization in Haematology (ICSH) and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). The plasma itself is free of human DNA, so all the DNA measured comes from the cfDNA added.

Applications

As a negative control alongside a mutation standard, as a background for spike-in experiments with cfDNA or ctDNA, and as a control on extraction efficiency: because the material starts as plasma rather than as purified DNA, it also tests the extraction step, which a DNA standard cannot do.
