This kit in detail
Description
Oropouche virus (OROV) is an arbovirus that causes Oropouche fever, a zoonotic disease transmitted primarily by biting midges and occasionally by mosquitoes. The disease is endemic in parts of South America and has seen a rise in cases in 2024, affecting regions with no prior outbreaks. The disease has an incubation period of 4–8 days, after which symptoms appear suddenly, including high fever, intense headaches, joint and muscle pain, chills, photophobia, nausea, and vomiting. While the illness is typically self-limiting, some patients experience a relapse of symptoms after initial recovery. In rare cases, neurological complications such as meningitis or encephalitis may occur.
