Plasma 1x (human-tech) DNA Free (SID-000007) is recreated human plasma without DNA, supplied here in a 5 ml vial. It contains about 50 mg/ml of human proteins, the electrolytes sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride and phosphate, and EDTA at 1.42 mg/ml. The EDTA concentration follows the guidance of the ICSH and the CLSI, so the matrix matches plasma as it is obtained from an EDTA tube. Stored at 2 to 8 °C the product is stable for up to 24 months.

Plasma 1x (human-tech) DNA Free is a plasma matrix without DNA, for use wherever a cfDNA workflow needs a background that behaves like plasma but contributes no signal of its own. This is the 5 ml vial.
Composition
The product recreates plasma as it is obtained after a standard blood draw and plasma separation: about 50 mg/ml of human proteins, the electrolytes sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride and phosphate, and EDTA at 1.42 mg/ml. EDTA is the anticoagulant in the collection tube, and its concentration follows the guidance of the International Council for Standardization in Haematology and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute. The plasma contains no human DNA.
Applications
As a no template control in molecular experiments, and as a background matrix for spike-in experiments with cfDNA or ctDNA at a concentration the laboratory sets itself. Because the material is plasma and not purified DNA, it also puts the extraction step to the test.
Quality control and storage
Each batch is tested for residual human DNA, under ISO 17025. Stored at 2 to 8 °C the product is stable for up to 24 months. The same plasma is available in a 40 ml bottle, and a two-fold concentrated version with a matching dilution buffer is available as the Plasma 2x (human-tech) DNA Free Set.
