About SwiftX™ DNA Water Extraction

The SwiftX™ DNA Water Kit delivers rapid, species-independent DNA water extraction from environmental and wastewater samples. Using a magnetic, field-ready workflow, it captures and lyses bacteria, parasites, and fungi from up to 20 mL of water without centrifugation. It produces high-quality DNA suitable for qPCR, dPCR, and long-read sequencing.

Specifications of the SwiftX™ DNA Water Extraction

SwiftX™ DNA Water

The SwiftX™ DNA Water Kit provides fast, reliable DNA water extraction from environmental and wastewater samples. Using magnetic cell capture and heat-lysis chemistry, the kit efficiently concentrates and lyses bacteria, fungi, and parasitic protozoa from sample volumes up to 20 mL. The resulting DNA is suitable for qPCR, digital PCR, isothermal amplification, microarray analysis, and next-generation sequencing, including long-read platforms like Oxford Nanopore. Designed for field use and low-resource environments, the workflow eliminates centrifugation and delivers results in ~25 minutes.

The kit includes Buffer DWC for cell stabilization and capture, Buffer TLS for high-efficiency lysis, paramagnetic Beads A, and Tubes G 0.1 for bead-assisted mechanical disruption. Reagents are stored at 2–25 °C and remain stable for three months after first opening

Broad Downstream Compatibility

SwiftX™ DNA Water yields both intracellular and extracellular (environmental) DNA, enabling robust molecular workflows across diverse detection and surveillance platforms.

Optimized for use in complex and inhibitor-rich matrices, the extracts support:

  • Quantitative and digital PCR (qPCR, dPCR) for sensitive, targeted pathogen detection
  • Long-read using Oxford Nanopore™ platforms and short read sequencing platforms for comprehensive taxonomic and functional profiling
  • Microbiome and resistome analysis, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) monitoring, and environmental DNA (eDNA) surveys in public health and ecological studies

Unmatched performance in dirty matrices

Validated limit of detection:

  • S. aureus: 1–10 cells/reaction
  • E. coli: 10 cells/reaction
  • C. parvum: 2 oocysts/reaction

 

DNA sample post-purification fully compatible with Nanopore, qPCR, dPCR. Outperformed spin columns in sensitivity and DNA yield.
