Galaxy Lite

The Galaxy Lite is a fully enclosed qPCR instrument that integrates nucleic acid extraction, PCR set-up and real-time detection in one platform, with 7 optical detection channels. The reagents come as a single-use iCassette, and the instrument is an open system, so third-party reagents can be used. Dimensions are 480 x 330 x 400 mm and the weight 35 kg.

Product details

This instrument in detail

  • Extraction, PCR set-up and detection in one enclosed instrument
  • 7 optical channels: FAM, HEX, ROX or TAMRA, Texas Red, Cy5, Cy5.5 and AMCA
  • Open system for third-party reagents
  • Single-use iCassette tray with lyophilised reagents
  • Controller software with multi-user login and role-based access
  • 480 x 330 x 400 mm, 35 kg

The Galaxy Lite performs nucleic acid extraction, PCR set-up and real-time detection inside one closed instrument, so the sample is not handled between steps.

Optical channels

Seven channels are available, with excitation and emission at 460/525 nm (FAM), 525/564 nm (SYBR or HEX), 543/584 nm (ROX or TAMRA), 571/624 nm (Texas Red), 624/675 nm (Cy5), 675/710 nm (Cy5.5) and 350/460 nm (AMCA). That range covers the dye combinations used in most multiplex assays.

Open platform

All Galaxy systems are open platforms, so third-party PCR reagents and a laboratory’s own assays can be run on them. The reagents are supplied in a single-use iCassette cartridge, which holds the extraction and amplification reagents in lyophilised form.

Software and applications

The instrument is driven by its own controller software, with multi-user login and role-based access, and connects over USB Type-C. Named applications are viral detection, pathogen identification, mutation detection, SNP detection, GMO detection and microbial detection. Dimensions are 480 mm wide, 330 mm deep and 400 mm high, weight 35 kg. The instrument is declared to comply with IEC 61326-2-6.

  • Dimensions: 48 cm (L) x  33 cm (W) x 40 cm (H)
  • Weight: 35 kg
  • Power: 100-240 VAC: 50/60Hz
