Galaxy Neo POC qPCR system
The Galaxy Neo performs nucleic acid extraction and real-time PCR in one enclosed instrument, for up to 2 samples per run with a result in 1 to 2 hours. It is an open system with 7 optical channels, so a laboratory can run third-party kits and its own assays on it. At 448 x 178 x 331 mm and 9 kg it is built for use close to the patient rather than for batch work. The reagents come as a single-use iCassette with lyophilised reagents.

This instrument in detail
- Up to 2 samples per run, result in 1 to 2 hours
- 7 optical channels for multiplex assays
- Open system for third-party kits and own assays
- Single-use iCassette with lyophilised reagents
- 448 x 178 x 331 mm, 9 kg, 100 to 240 V AC
The Galaxy Neo combines extraction and real-time PCR in one small enclosed instrument, for testing at the point of care, where a single sample has to produce an answer quickly.
Throughput
Up to 2 samples per run, with a result in 1 to 2 hours. Detection uses 7 optical channels, so several targets can be read from one reaction.
Open platform
All Galaxy systems are open platforms, so third-party PCR reagents and a laboratory’s own assays can be run on them. The reagents are supplied in a single-use iCassette cartridge, which holds the extraction and amplification reagents in lyophilised form.
Format
448 mm wide, 178 mm deep and 331 mm high, 9 kg, mains supply 100 to 240 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz. For a higher sample volume the manufacturer offers the Galaxy Lite, the Galaxy Nano and the Galaxy Pro, the last of which handles up to 12 samples per run.
- Dimensions: 44,8 cm (L) x 17,8 cm (W) x 33,1 cm (H)
- Weight: 9 kg
- Power: 100-240 VAC: 50/60Hz
