About PML-RARA
PML-RARA is a fusion gene created by a chromosomal translocation, specifically a swapping of genetic material between chromosomes 15 and 17, in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). This fusion protein, PML-RARA, disrupts normal cellular processes and is a key driver of APL development.
