Micro-Dx™ CE IVD is a fully automated solution for microbial DNA enrichment, bacterial and fungal DNA isolation, and broad-range 16S/18S PCR analysis. Used in combination with the SelectNA™plus platform, it enables culture-independent detection and identification of pathogens from a wide range of clinical specimens while minimizing hands-on time and reducing interference from human DNA.
The system supports routine molecular diagnostics by delivering high-quality microbial DNA for sensitive PCR analysis and downstream sequencing applications.
The Micro-Dx™ CE IVD kit from Molzym is an advanced molecular diagnostic solution for the automated detection and identification of bacterial and fungal pathogens in clinical specimens. Used in combination with the SelectNA™plus platform, the system integrates sample pre-treatment, microbial DNA enrichment, host DNA depletion, DNA isolation, and broad-range PCR analysis into a streamlined workflow. This significantly reduces manual handling while improving the sensitivity and reliability of pathogen detection.
A key advantage of Micro-Dx is its ability to selectively remove human DNA before microbial DNA extraction. By enriching pathogen DNA and reducing background interference, the kit enhances PCR performance and helps laboratories detect low-abundance microorganisms that may be missed by conventional methods. The automated workflow minimizes hands-on time to approximately 10–15 minutes, making it well suited for routine diagnostic laboratories with demanding workloads.
Micro-Dx utilizes broad-range 16S rRNA and 18S rRNA PCR assays for the detection of bacterial and fungal DNA. Unlike culture-based methods, which can take days and may fail to detect non-viable or fastidious organisms, Micro-Dx enables culture-independent pathogen detection directly from clinical samples. Positive PCR results can be further analyzed through sequencing, allowing identification of pathogens at genus or species level for improved diagnostic confidence.
The kit has been validated for a broad range of specimen types, including blood, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), joint aspirates, wound swabs, biopsies, heart valves, prosthetic materials, and other sterile-site samples. This versatility enables laboratories to implement a single standardized workflow across multiple clinical applications.
To ensure reliable results, Micro-Dx includes internal extraction controls, positive PCR controls, and sequencing primers. Combined with the fully automated SelectNA™plus extraction process, these quality control measures support reproducible pathogen detection while reducing the risk of contamination and operator-dependent variability.
With its combination of automated microbial DNA extraction, broad-range pathogen detection, low hands-on time, and sequencing-based identification, Micro-Dx™ CE IVD provides clinical laboratories with a powerful solution for routine molecular diagnosis of bacterial and fungal infections.
