Specifications of the Malaria PCR Kit

The BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Malaria PCR Kit is a molecular diagnostic test for the detection of malaria. It identifies five Plasmodium species – Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium malariae, Plasmodium ovale and Plasmodium knowlesi (PAN). It also specifically detects Plasmodium falciparum (FALCI), the most dangerous species. The test uses real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) technology to analyse DNA extracted from whole blood samples. It is intended for in vitro use in professional laboratories.

The importance of early and accurate diagnosis
Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by Plasmodium parasites transmitted by the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. Of the five Plasmodium species that affect humans, Plasmodium falciparum accounts for over 80% of cases. Immediate detection and treatment of P. falciparum is critical to prevent severe or fatal outcomes, highlighting the importance of an accurate diagnostic tool such as the BIOSYNEX AMPLIQUICK® Malaria PCR Kit.

Advanced qPCR technology for reliable results
The kit uses advanced qPCR technology for increased sensitivity and accuracy. It detects the 18S rRNA gene sequences of Plasmodium spp, including P. falciparum, and incorporates an internal control (CIEZ) to ensure reliable results by minimising false negatives.

Designed for professional use
This test is not automated and requires professional laboratory expertise. It supports early diagnosis of malaria, enabling healthcare providers to provide effective treatment and improve patient outcomes worldwide.

Components of the Malaria PCR Kit
  1. Divisible 96-wells Microplate (0.1 ml low profile / 0.2 ml high profile): Prefilled with the Master Mix for easy setup.
  2. Positive Control: Validates test performance and ensures accurate results.
  3. Negative Control: Ensures no contamination in the reaction process.
  4. Optical Cap Strips: Used to securely seal the microplate wells during testing.
