What is MTB DNA Extraction?

MTB DNA extraction refers to isolating high-quality DNA from Mycobacterium tuberculosis in clinical specimens. Due to its waxy, mycolic acid-rich cell wall, MTB is one of the most difficult pathogens to lyse. Accurate PCR-based diagnosis of tuberculosis depends on efficient DNA extraction. This kit enables the robust lysis and purification needed for successful downstream detection of MTB DNA, even in low-bacterial-load specimens.

About the TRUPCR® MTB DNA Extraction Kit

  1. Heat Lysis: Breaks down mycolic acid–rich bacterial walls

  2. Binding: DNA binds to a silica membrane in the presence of chaotropic salts and ethanol

  3. Washing: Multiple wash steps remove proteins, inhibitors, and contaminants

  4. Elution: DNA is eluted in 40–50 µL of low-salt buffer

The result: highly pure DNA ideal for conventional PCR and real-time PCR applications.
